Camperships and Camp Fees

Access to camp for all campers is essential to everyone here at Camp High Hopes. To this end, all campers receive an 80% reduction in camp fees, thanks to the generosity of our donors, to ensure our fees are comparable to those at any camp. For example, the camp fee of $696 for a Sleep Away has been reduced from $3,240. Knowing that this remaining cost may still represent challenges to some of our campers, additional financial assistance is available to assist with up to 2/3 of the reduced camp fee. In the case of a Sleep Away session, a camper may receive up to $459 in additional assistance, meaning you can attend a week of camp for less than $250. For more information, indicate that you are seeking financial assistance when registering for a camp session or call our office. Camperships depend on the availability of funds and are limited to 1 campership per season.

Financial Assistance may be available to families in need. When completing your Registration Form, check the Financial Assistance box in the Tuition Payment Information section.

Having trouble paying for camp?

There is free financial assistance for Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota families.

For Iowa children with disabilities:

Additional assistance may be available to you through the Iowa Family Support Network with the Children at Home program. The Children at Home program helps families caring for a child with a disability by providing financial assistance for items or services not covered by other programs and are needed because of the child’s disability. Specialized camps, including Camp High Hopes, can be considered for a child as long as it can be related to the child’s disability diagnoses. To qualify for the Children at Home program the family must reside in the state of Iowa, the family must include a child with a disability, which is defined as an individual who is less than 22 years of age and meets the definition of developmental disability, the family’s intent must be to secure those services and supports that would enable the child to remain living in the family home, and the family’s federal net (NOT gross) taxable income for the most recent tax year must be under $60,000.

In order to apply to the Children at Home program, families must fill out an application. The application can be found at https://www.iafamilysupportnetwork.org/children-at-home/application-process. Please also download the release, which is found at the same link, but is under ‘Additional Documents.’ Families will also need to include the first two pages of their Federal 1040 tax forms for the most recent tax year for income verification.

For more, please contact the Iowa Family Support Network directly:

  • 1-888-IAKIDS1 (1-888-425-4371)
  • IAFamilySupportNetwork@Everystep.org (email)
  • IAFamilySupportNetwork.org (website)

For South Dakota families:

Additional support and financial assistance may be available through Volunteers of America – Dakotas For more information, go to https://www.voa-dakotas.org/our-service-areas/intellectual-developmental-disabilities.

Also, Sesdac may be able to help. You can find more information at https://www.sesdac.org/services/family-support-360/.
