Originally from Colorado, Sarah Morgan is a University of Missouri-Columbia graduate with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and French. After meeting her husband, Travis, at KMEG 14 in Sioux City, they moved to Omaha but decided to return when they missed their family, friends, and home. She worked at KTIV News 4 as the morning anchor for four years before making a shift and joining Camp High Hopes in 2016. Sarah and Travis now live happily in South Dakota with their daughter Cate and son Cameron, along with their two Boston Terrier fur babies Mugsy and Finnegan.

With a passion for camp and an education degree from Peru State College in Nebraska, Derek Bergman has more than 20 years experience in the summer camp world, twelve of those years being full-time. He believes that the power of camp lies in our ability to learn something about ourselves and one another when we experience it. Derek is thrilled to bring Camp High Hopes further by making it accessible to everyone. He is joined by his wife Amy, along with their three kids Tava, Kaden, and Kyler.

Kyle brings with him years of experience in cattle farming and a deep passion for cultivating relationships within his community. As a Pierson, IA resident, Kyle shares his home with his wife, Lora, and their three amazing boys, Easton, Ean, and Kaiden. Camp High Hopes holds a special place in Kyle's heart, and he has seen first-hand the incredible experiences and benefits that camp's programs provide to campers, as his middle son has attended camp sessions. With his expertise in marketing, public relations, and social media, Kyle has been instrumental in helping Camp High Hopes thrive in the digital space and build connections with local establishments.

Meet Teresa, a native of Harlan, IA, who graduated from Western Iowa Tech with a degree in accounting and worked at empirical before coming to camp in 2017.
She loves her job for the opportunity to connect with campers and their families, ensuring each camper is enrolled correctly and gets the most out of camp.
Teresa is a mother to two sons, Matthew and Christopher, and lives with two furry four-legged friends - Steve and Chloe.
Teresa enjoys spending time outdoors with her kids and dogs when she's not busy at camp. She loves hockey, stock car racing, and is a volunteer at her local fire department!

Amy Bergman is an experienced graduate of Sioux City's Morningside University and has been involved in camping since 2002. Boasting a wealth of knowledge from prior camping experiences, Amy's career has included stints as a volunteer, summer counselor, and various seasonal positions across other camps. While in the elementary school system, she found joy in supporting children with special needs to succeed academically and socially. With a passion for working at camp year-round, she is thrilled to join Camp High Hopes and make a difference!

Ethan Porter is a Nebraska native passionate about the great outdoors and helping others. He joined Camp High Hopes in 2023, bringing with him 14 years of experience working in various camps as a Director, Assistant Director, and staff. Prior to that, he spent five years at Fremont Public Schools in their Behavioral Disorders School. When he's not in the office, you can find Ethan at the pool as a Lifeguard Instructor, teaching archery as a USA Archery Level 2 Instructor, or spending time outdoors with his rescue dog, Scout. Ethan is always looking for new adventures and ways to impact the community positively. With a heart full of compassion and a willingness to help those in need, Ethan is a valuable asset to the Camp High Hopes team.

Jacob is a native of Fairbury, Nebraska, and has been immersed with individuals with disabilities since his youth. Jacob graduated from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in human service counseling. Jacob worked as a sleepaway counselor for Camp High Hopes in the summer of 2019. Jacob has worked as a program team member, maintaining full-time status since starting at Camp High Hopes in 2019. Jacob served as a Program Specialist for Camp Courageous located in Monticello, Iowa. Jacob made the decision to return to Camp High Hopes to be closer to his family and to seek further growth. Jacob is motivated to give back to the location that sparked his passion for helping individuals within the camp industry. Jacob is excited to fulfill this role and provide new opportunities to the campers served as a Smile Maker. Jacob brings his passion and heart for giving care to those with disabilities to our team at Camp High Hopes. Jacob has Cerebral Palsy and is ready to act as a role model to the campers attending camp. He is a triplet, and his siblings Nicholas and Sister Katie serve patrons within the Lincoln, Nebraska region. Jacob is ready once again to make smiles happen!

Dr. Thomas Wente, a Siouxland native, graduated from the University of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines with an Osteopathic Medicine degree. He has since provided family practice medicine under Family Health Care of Siouxland clinics in South Sioux City, NE and Moville, IA.

At Camp High Hopes he is responsible for providing direction and oversight to its medical procedures and policies. He is always on hand to assist the camp's medical staff with their duties - making sure they meet the needs of each camper. His knowledge and expertise ensures that campers get the best care possible during their stay at Camp High Hopes.
