Volunteer Groups Make 30 Benches for Camp

Over 30 youth volunteers came out to the camp with members of Leadership Siouxland and Dixon County Leaders on April 21st and April 29th 2012 to complete a volunteer project for the camp. With the volunteer leadership of Board Member Gary Turbes, the two groups worked to assemble thirty benches over two afternoons. The benches will be placed along the camp’s trail system. Thank you volunteers!!!

Year 13 Transition Program Students Donate to Camp High Hopes

A group of 25 students from the Year 13 Transition Program donated $410.07 to the camp today to fund a pair of guinea pigs for our nature program. They raised the money by bringing in their own coins nearly every day for over 3 months. The students will be naming the guinea pigs later this Spring. Thank you students!!!

STLF Volunteers Raise Over $2,000 for Camp High Hopes

Over 40 volunteers traveled 400 miles to complete a fundraising service project on Saturday for Camp High Hopes. As a part of the STLF (Student’s Today Leaders Forever) program, 42 college students from the University of North Dakota participated in their Pay It Forward Tour. One of their stops along the nine day community service tour included Sioux City.

The Pay It Forward Tour represents the core of STLF. The Tour is a community service road trip that travels from city to city doing different service projects. Students on a charter bus visit cities of various sizes and learn about a variety of social issues, with the hopes of learning more about themselves, their own community, and the world. The hundreds of service hours carried out on each Tour are meaningful, but the true impact of the program is through lasting friendships and commitments to paying it forward of each student impacted by their experience. The Pay It Forward Tour encompasses a wide variety of experiences and opportunities all in one cross-country adventure to make a difference.

STLF Volunteers Collecting Donations at the Gordon Drive Hy-Vee

Their community service project took place at all the front entrances of all four of the Siouxland Hy-Vee Stores on Saturday morning where the students sold mini-basketballs and collected donations for Camp High Hopes . The volunteers sold over 500 mini-basketballs and raised over $2,000 to help fund the annual operations of the special needs camp. The students concluded their morning by assembling at the Dining Room of the Gordon Drive Hy-Vee Store where they were treated to a lunch that was sponsored by Hy-Vee and to prizes awarded to the volunteer team that collected the most donations.

The Sioux City Police Officers Association is selling die-cast replicas of squad cars to help raise money for Camp High Hopes. The mini-police cars are selling for a limited time for $25- each and can be purchased by visiting any of the following locations:

Hoping all of Camp High Hopes friends have a wonderful holiday season full of joy and peace. At this time of year we are reminded of how lucky we are to have so many great friends of the camp that care about our mission and our special needs campers.

The camp construction continues to progress through the holiday and coming winter season. Year 13 Students Collecting Coins for Camp

The students that are enrolled at Sioux City Community School’s Year 13 transition program are collecting coins for Camp High Hopes. The class of 25 students attended the camp’s ground breaking celebration on October 12th and were inspired to help the camp that they hope to attend someday. The class has decided to save their coins all year and give them to Camp High Hopes in the spring.

They are asking others to help by sending them coins to add to their jar. The Year 13 Transition Program is located on the WITCC Campus at 4647 Stone Ave in Sioux City.

UFCW Local 222 Donates to Camp High Hopes
