Phase 2

Goal:  Construct several buildings that will support the recreational needs of persons with disabilities and the growing needs of the camp.

Camp High Hopes will provide a multitude of recreational programs for campers. Several buildings are needed to adequately facilitate the programs. All of the buildings are a critical component of the camp’s programs, activities, and sustainable rental income. Camp High Hopes is now actively seeking donors who can contribute cash or in-kind donations totaling approximately $6 million for the construction of a 3rd Cabin, the Maintenance and Storage building, the Recreation Center (Indoor Pool/Gym/LockerRoom), the Indoor Horse Arena and Barn, the Nature Center, the Arts/Crafts building, and a multitude of needed furnishings.

The largest of the buildings is the Recreation Center which will provide countless hours of physical recreation and fun for camperswhile they participate in swimming or sporting activities. An indoor horse arena and barn for the petting zoo will provide opportunities for the campers to learn about, care for and connect with animals, as well as opportunities to ride horses year-round. Campers will be able to explore elements of nature hands-on in the Nature Center and create their own masterpieces in the Arts and Crafts building. The equipment needed to up-keep and maintain the camp will be stored in the Maintenance and Storage building.

All of these buildings will also provide a source of sustainable income for the camp as they will be rented to the public, businesses, and service groups while not in use by campers. The camp schedule will allow some buildings to be rented out in between camping activities, while others only on select days or evenings. For example, the indoor pool will have daily open swim and lap swimming available to the public for a fee during select hours. Special public programs and fund raisers, such as a Movie and Swim Celebration for local children would be held on occasionally on Friday evenings. These rentals and fees will contribute to the sustainability of the camp.
