Goal: Build the key structures and infrastructure necessary for a year-round recreational facility exclusively designed and operated for people with special needs.
Part of this goal has been achieved! Our 90-acres just outside of Sioux City, Iowa has been purchased and completely paid for. The location of Camp High Hopes is camp-like, yet within minutes’ drive of two major hospitals and several Sioux City hotels, shopping complexes, and recreation. The preliminary road leading into and through the camp has been constructed. Architects, engineers, and contractors have mapped out the infrastructure and associated plans.
Camp High Hopes is now actively seeking donors who can contribute cash or in-kind donations totaling approximately $7 million for the completion of Phase 1, including the construction of the lodge, two cabins, a medical center/office, infrastructure, furnishings, and program equipment. The 2-story, 21,000 square foot lodge will be the hub of the camp, where hundreds of campers and staff members will gather for meals as well as activities and entertainment. Several fundraising events for the camp will also take center stage at the lodge. Each 2-story, 7,000 square foot cabin will safely accommodate the year-round needs of up to 40 campers plus full-time and seasonal staff. Camper registration, camp merchandise sales, day to day operations, and onsite medical care will be facilitated from the Medical Center/Office located near the lodge. When this goal is reached, Camp High Hopes will be operational and therefore offering camping sessions to approximately 80 campers per week.
